These are the best coves in Benidorm

Are you looking for small, charming beaches that aren’t too crowded? Well, we can tell you that in Benidorm, this is also a reality, although not so well known. Here we will reveal those that are, in our opinion, the best coves in Benidorm and coves near Benidorm that you cannot miss on your next vacation on the Costa Blanca.

Cala de Finestrat

Finestrat, a town in Alicante located between Benidorm and Villajoyosa, has only one beach: Cala de Finestrat. Due to its location between these two popular tourist spots, it is highly sought after by travelers, although it is usually not overly crowded. It is a 270-meter bay that offers a spectacular landscape, with fine sand, crystal-clear waters, and small cliffs with views of the entire surroundings.

Water sports can be practiced here, and it is also ideal for children, as it usually offers free activities during the summer. It is located a 10-minute drive from the center of Benidorm.

Cala del Mal Pas

One of the main attractions of this cove is its proximity to Benidorm Island and the underwater platform called La Llosa. This makes the seabed in this area rich in biodiversity and therefore highly sought after by divers. If you enjoy diving or snorkeling, don’t miss visiting this beach with the proper equipment.

It is a Blue Flag beach about 120 meters long, with lifeguards and the possibility to rent sun loungers and umbrellas. You will find it just over 5 minutes by car from the center of Benidorm, next to the marina.

Cala Almadrava

This cove is 100 meters long and features some rocks that only add to its charm while deterring tourists who prefer fine sand, so you can enjoy this piece of the Mediterranean more peacefully. It is located right at the foot of the Sierra Helada Natural Park, offering views of both the sea and the mountains in one place. Speaking of the sea, the waters in this area are very clean and clear, making it a very interesting cove for diving. It has lifeguard service but no sun loungers or umbrellas.

It is important to know that access is not easy, as it involves a descent from the Punta L’Escaleta viewpoint and there is no defined or maintained path. To reach this spot from the city center, it takes just over 5 minutes by car.

Cala Tio Ximo

Finally, Cala Tio Ximo. This relaxed beach at the foot of the Sierra Helada is very peaceful, perfect for unwinding in its warm and crystal-clear waters, so don’t miss a visit. Despite being very close to the center of Benidorm, it is nestled between cliffs, which is ideal to disconnect from the city’s hustle without going too far. However, it’s advisable to arrive early to avoid having to fight for a square meter of sand. It’s not a very crowded beach, but its size is really small: 60 meters long.

To access this cove, it is necessary to walk down from the Punta L’Escaleta viewpoint (the same starting point as Cala Almadraba, as they are neighboring coves), so we also recommend caution and appropriate footwear. If you have the chance, bring your fins and goggles so you can do some snorkeling. The marine life is impressive!

Extra: Cala del Metge

This cove deserves a special mention, although it is not exactly in Benidorm. In the Sierra Helada Natural Park, in Albir (just 15 minutes by car from Benidorm), we find Cala del Metge, or Doctor’s Cove. It is an almost untouched, semi-nudist beach with difficult access, incredible seabeds, and photographic landscapes. It is a rocky beach, so it is not the typical beach in the area: there are no children playing, and you will hardly see anyone lying down. But it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful coves near Benidorm!
