Serra Gelada Natural Park Route: Between Sea and Mountain

If you want to follow a route that takes you past spectacular cliffs, impressive fossil dunes and a natural park, the Serra Gelada Natural Park route is for you. The beauty of this route, which combines sea and mountains, is one of its main attractions, but bear in mind that it is a demanding route due to its various changes in elevation. In total, the route is approximately 8.5 kilometres long and takes an average of 4h30 to complete.

El Puig Campana: Climbing the Giant of Benidorm

This route takes us to the second highest peak in Alicante: the Montaña Mágica de Finestrat, officially known as Puig Campana. Very close to the Mediterranean and Benidorm, this mountain is both a challenge and a pleasure for hiking enthusiasts. The slope is not easy and the elevation gain is considerable, which is why it is considered one of the most demanding routes in the Valencian Community. There is an alternative circular route that does not climb to the top of the mountain, which is recommended for people with little experience. One thing is certain: the landscapes are spectacular and well worth the effort. There are several routes in Benidorm, but this is one of our favourites.

The Cross of Benidorm: A Walk with Panoramic Views

The Cruz de Benidorm is a spectacular viewpoint in the Serra Gelada Natural Park. From there, you will have incredible views of the city, its skyscrapers and its fantastic sunset. It is located at the eastern end of the city, near Levante Beach, right where the city ends and nature begins, with its green landscapes and peaceful atmosphere. Getting to this viewpoint is not difficult, making it a perfect route for all ages.

Albir Lighthouse Route

This is another fairly easy route, suitable for all ages (even babies in pushchairs), which takes us through the Serra Gelada Natural Park. It is more of a walk than a hiking trail, but it is a fantastic plan for the whole family to enjoy incredible views of Altea Bay. It starts at the Albir information point, follows a paved road, goes through a tunnel and then you will find several viewpoints, perfect for taking photos for Instagram! At the end of the route, we arrive at the Albir Lighthouse, which serves as the park’s interpretation centre. This route has a total distance of 5 kilometres (round trip) and takes an average of 1h30. If you are interested in hiking in Benidorm, this route is perfect for you.

This circular route is easy and suitable for families, making it a great plan to do near Benidorm. In the midst of nature, in a beautiful area, this route is about 10 kilometers long and starts and ends in Beniardà. Most of the route is paved, but surrounded by pines and with absolutely spectacular views of the reservoir and the mountains. It’s a great way to introduce the little ones to hiking or to get some physical activity during your vacation. Plus, you can visit some of the nearby villages and spend a whole day in the Guadalest Valley.

Sierra Cortina: A Pleasant Walk with Views

This is one of the most popular routes in Benidorm, especially because it is so easy. More than hiking, it is a relaxed walk that can be done with children or elderly people. The route is about 7 kilometres long, but you can turn back at any time. The views of the Mediterranean and the city of Benidorm from above are fantastic! On this route, you can also enjoy views of the Puig Campana and Ponoig mountains, so there will be plenty of opportunities to appreciate the natural beauty.
