Many of our clients, when they visit us, ask about a special viewpoint in Benidorm. And if there’s one thing the city has, it’s plenty of them — either steeped in history or set in the heart of nature, making each one unique.
All of them offer stunning views of the town and its surroundings from different perspectives. That’s why we’ve decided to dedicate an article to the most iconic ones. We hope it serves as both inspiration and a useful guide.
Benidorm’s skyline is truly unique. Once night falls and the first lights begin to glow, the city transforms. The sky takes on an amber hue that fades into the horizon along the sea. That moment—sunset—is one of the most special times of the day to take in the entire landscape.
Even so, it’s equally awe-inspiring to gaze out over the vastness of the sea during the day, in any direction, with Journalists’ Island as a focal point. Here are some of the most well-known and easily accessible viewpoints in Benidorm worth visiting.
It is located at the top of a hill on the southern edge of the Serra Gelada Natural Park and is an ideal spot to watch the sunset. You can reach it on foot via well-marked trails or by car, as there is parking available very close to the summit.
The Benidorm Cross viewpoint is closely linked to the recent history of Spain and the arrival of foreign tourism. In 1962, during the dictatorship, the Catholic Church launched a campaign against bikinis and certain swimsuits it considered sinful. As a protest action, a group organized a procession carrying a cross, which they placed at the spot it now occupies.
It is located at the Punta del Canfali, a rocky outcrop that separates Poniente Beach from Levante Beach. This is a very popular and lively spot known for its bohemian atmosphere. From here, you can enjoy spectacular views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea.
At this viewpoint, you’ll often find painters, musicians, and local craft markets. It is frequented by both tourists and locals alike.
Between the 14th and 16th centuries, this site was home to an old fortress that protected the town from pirate attacks, mainly coming from North Africa. Today, you can still see remnants of the original stone walls scattered across the area.
Its current appearance is defined by white and blue tones, reminiscent of 19th-century classicism. It’s a charming place to stroll and take in breathtaking views. For that reason, the Benidorm Castle Viewpoint is an unmissable stop you shouldn’t leave out.
It is a hill located between Poniente Beach and Finestrat Cove. This Benidorm viewpoint sits at its summit. In addition to stunning views of the city, you’ll also find a Roman archaeological site from the 2nd and 1st centuries BC, which is open to the public. There is also a small chapel dedicated to the Mare de Déu del Mar.
As for the archaeological site, it is a military settlement built during the time of General Sertorius, intended to fortify the area. From this position, it was possible to monitor and control passing ships. However, it appears the Romans were not the first to settle here. Remains from the Bronze Age, as well as Greek and Iberian traces, have also been discovered. Free guided tours are offered and are truly worth taking.
It is located between the towns of Benidorm and Finestrat. You’ll easily recognize it by the large Terra Mítica letters, as it offers a great vantage point over this theme park. From here, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Sierra Helada and Sierra de Bernia, as well as Puig Campana and Ponoig.
Along the way to the top, you can also catch glimpses of Villajoyosa and the Sierra de Orxeta. At the very summit, you’ll find a wooden viewpoint overlooking Benidorm.
This is the tallest hotel in Europe. It has 52 floors and a rooftop viewpoint terrace located 186 meters high. From there, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Benidorm and Journalists’ Island from Poniente Beach. Although it only shares its name with the famous Indonesian island, its modern design is sure to impress you.
These are just a few, but there are many more. Many visitors create their own route to enjoy the views of the city, the Mediterranean, or the surrounding mountains. At Benidorm Paraíso, we often recommend our guests visit one viewpoint per day. That way, you can take it easy and enjoy the walk. Every viewpoint in Benidorm has something unique that makes it special. Don’t miss them — you’ll love the experience!
